What is Dysport and Why Do You Need It?
Dysport is a natural-looking, fast-acting, and long-lasting injection to help smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) without changing the look or movement of the rest of your face. Like Botox, Dysport is a cosmetic form of botulinum toxin and temporally prevents the muscle contractions that cause frown lines. Results typically appear 2-3 days after treatment and can last up to 5 months. Many people are now choosing Dysport for treating their frown lines, as the injections do not minimize facial expressions.

What Is The Difference Between Dysport And Botox?
Dysport and Botox are both injections that temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the muscles under the skin to create a smoother appearance. They both contain a similar main ingredient, but Dysport is more diluted and contains less protein than Botox. This may make one treatment more effective than the other for certain people. Where Dysport is typically used only for moderate to severe frown lines, Botox can be used for the following areas:
- Wrinkles between the eyebrows are often called frown lines or elevens
- Wrinkles around the eyes, known as crow’s feet
- Horizontal creases in the forehead
- Lines at the corners of the mouth

Dysport is approved in 67 countries and has over 25 years of experience worldwide. Dysport is safe only when administered by a trained and licensed healthcare professional. Dysport is a quick and effective procedure and is relatively painless. 95% of users were happy with their results with only 2 treatments per year. The most common side effects of Dysport are nose and throat irritation, headache, pain at the injection site, injection site skin reaction, sinus inflammation, and nausea. Do not have Dysport treatment if you are allergic to Dysport or any of its ingredients, are allergic to cow’s milk protein, have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum product such as Botox, have a skin infection, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Dysport has minimal downtime, and you may return to your usual daily routine after treatment. We recommend staying upright for 4 hours after treatment and avoiding exercise for 48 hours after treatment. We also recommend you minimize touching your face and avoid touching the injection site for 24 hours after treatment. Sleeping on your back the first night after receiving Dysport treatment will help it stay in place by avoiding pressure on the injection site. As always, we recommend you keep a good skincare routine and wear an SPF sunscreen or moisturizer daily.
How long does it take for Dysport to work, and how long does it last?
Dysport is a quick procedure that takes about 10-20 minutes to administer. Though results vary, over half of users see results in just 2-3 days! One treatment provides results that may last up to 5 months.
Does Dysport hurt?
Dysport may be slightly uncomfortable, but not certainly not unbearable. Many patients report that receiving an injectable like Dysport is relatively painless and feels like a pinch. If you are worried about pain, your technician may use a topical numbing treatment before administering Dysport.
How did I get frown lines?
Squinting, frowning, concentrating, and repeating the same forehead muscle movements over time can form lines between the eyebrows called frown lines.
Will I look like I’ve had work done?
With Dysport, it’s your frown lines that are minimized, not your expressions. Dysport will provide a subtle and natural result when delivered by a licensed, trained medical expert at Meg & Co. You’ll look like yourself, only with fewer lines.
Are Dysport and Botox the same thing?
No. Dysport and Botox are both made from botulinum. All botulinum toxins prevent the muscles from contracting to maintain the aesthetic effect. However, a dose of Dysport is not the same as the dose of any other botulinum toxin product and cannot be compared to the dosage of any other botulinum toxin product that you may have previously used.
Is there a difference between Botox and Dysport?
Yes! Though they are derived from the same active ingredient, Dysport is a smaller molecule than Botox, yet double the amount is being injected per unit, making it a 1:1 ratio to Botox. While Dysport is more affordable and delivers the same results, it all comes down to personal preference.
